/Applications/xampp/xamppfiles/mampp

and add the following after line 199:
ln -s /Applications/xampp/xamppfiles/var/mysql/mysql.sock /tmp/mysql.sock

this will create a link to mysql.sock in /tmp/ everytime mysql starts up.</description>
